Zuzu & Zim: Miracles
When Flight 3407 crashed outside of Buffalo shortly after the safe landing of Flight1549 on the Hudson, I had a hard time reconciling the talk of a miracle with the fiery tragedy that followed. If it is God who blesses some people, then it has to be God who condemns others. Why? Are miracles "earned" or does God flip a heavenly coin? An eternal question.
Better not to think too much about why God does this or that and focus on human systems. Very experienced people working together in a catastrophic situation have a higher probability of success than inexperienced teams. The game is a human one. When three things go wrong at once, you lose. When three things go right at once, you win.
But still, we want our magic to beat the odds.
