New Year's Day Thought

Jan 1, 2017. I woke up early, wondering if the day would be long enough to hold all my 2017 self-improvement activities. But instead of rushing to roll out my yoga mat, I poured a cup of coffee and opened my notebook to a blank January 1 page. We watched "The Maltese Falcon" last night, so I began the year by considering "the stuff that dreams are made of." That led me to think about the thrill of finding a treasure map. X marks the spot! But of course, the treasure is never where it's supposed to be and usually turns out to be, not a jewel-encrusted falcon, but a mirror, and we return home with a revised mental selfie.

After my apple, honey, and cashew butter sandwich, I went outside to see if any more shingles had eloped with the wind, only to find themselves flung, broken, onto the lawn. All was well. The new super-gel had pursuaded them to stick with their plywood. At least for now.

Here's a resolution: take my hand and I'll tell you a story...
