Jan 31, 2017. In my last entry, I was running headlong into the world of polymer clay. It galls me to admit that the process got the best of me and I lost sight of my dollmaking ambitions. When I get that frustrated, without a clear end in mind, my best course is to pack it up and stow it away for another day. Whatever "compelling reason" got me started on it will surface sooner or later.
But in the meantime, I began playing again with natural dyes, this time trying out some powder and liquid extracts rather than trying to coax the magic out of actual plants. They worked well on some scraps of white wool. I love the muted colors and how the felted wool looks like suede. Now... what to do with it...?
Lacking an ambitious project I began "doodling" with the wool -- a little log cabin square, a lively parrot... Not exactly pushing the limits of my craft, but a nice activity for evening down time.
My creative brain power is apparently all going into my writing project. More on that later...
