Project 4: My "Comfort" Bag

Continued from here <<<

There is something so intimate about a woman's favorite handbag. It was a good project to make from Jim's clothing—holding and protecting necessary and precious things while on the move.

For bags any more complicated than a box, I need instructions. The design may be simple, but the sequence of building it always feels counterintuitive to me. And then there are zippers.

So I turned to Crafty Gemini and her Essential Tote Bag online video course, motifying it as I went along.

The bag lining was made with khaki chinos. The pockets were lined with a green oxford dress shirt.

The exterior was made with three different plaid shirts. And the handles were twined with cuttings from an old suede jacket.

The bag will go with me now, like Jim, always game for travel, always ready to go.
