This timeline puts the Flanagan family members side by side to see if we can get better insights into their individual histories.

The only odd thing I notice is the proximity of the death of Kitty's siblings to the birth of her children: Nellie, while she was pregnant with Mary; Moses and Loretta when Bill and Bob were infants; Joe and Tom before Kathleen. Sorrow is offset by joy. Kitty's family retreated from their hard lives -- if you spend much time with their stories you can't help sensing despair. Yet Kitty emerged from that sad mess. Maybe her miracle was Tom Barrett, simple as that.
