Dunne Family: Found Aunties & New Cousins

May 5, 2023. If you are a Dunne descendant and puzzle over the Currans in your Ancestry DNA matches and wonder why you belong to the New Jersey & Eastern Pennsylvania Community, I may have found the missing link.

🤓 Paddy and Josephine Collins told me about Michael Dunne's brother John, whereabouts unknown--possibly gone to America. The information was too vague to investigate.

🤓 Along comes DNA. In Ancestry matches, James and John Curran appear as "2nd or 3rd cousins" to Mary Ellen Groark.

🤓 According to information from a Curran match, it appears that John and 2 sisters emigrated to Philadelphia, where they became "Dunn."

🤓 James & John are descendants of Mary Agnes Dunne. On her death certificate her parents are listed as "Michael Dunn" and "Ellen Stevens," probably reported by one of her children.

🤓 So, the descendants of Michael Dunne and Eleanor Stephens have expanded to include the two sisters and descendants shown in the diagram at the top of this page.

I can't discover much else about them yet but will keep pulling on threads.

Namesakes

🌟 Margaret Dunne Hession may have been named after her Aunt Margaret Dunne. She was the only Dunne sibling who didn't appear to be "named after" anyone till now.

🌟 Bridget Agnes Dunne Price may also have gotten her middle name from her Aunt Mary Agnes.

Not everyone is interested in finding long-lost cousins, but you all know I love a mystery!
